About Rhubee’s Chocolatiers

Rhubee’s is a small chocolate business situated in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal. Like many small businesses, it started as a hobby in our kitchen and, over the years, grew into the business it is today.

The company is owned by Julienne Prozesky and Alex Roberts and was started with five other friends who also loved chocolate and were looking for an alternative to conventional sugar-sweetened chocolate.

Their search took an exciting turn when they discovered premium sugar-free couverture chocolate, supplied in bulk for professional chocolatiers to create their own chocolate products. They could hardly believe that sugar-free chocolate could taste this good, and so the Rhubee’s adventure began.

From the kitchen, Rhubee’s eventually moved into its own small production facility, where the team was joined by Thulani, a professionally trained chocolatier.

As part of their chocolate journey, Julienne and Alex travelled to Belgium to visit their original couverture supplier and deepen their knowledge of chocolate and the art of the chocolatier. Over the years, Rhubee’s has exhibited at trade shows throughout South Africa and won several awards.

Just before lockdown, they travelled to Italy to purchase specialist chocolate-making machinery, allowing Rhubee’s to continue developing and introducing new chocolate products.

Today, Rhubee’s continues to use premium couverture chocolate. The couverture is imported in bulk and then tempered, flavoured, moulded and handmade in small batches in South Africa to create the Rhubee’s range.

After all these years, we still love our chocolate and still love creating it. We hope you will too.
